We are very fussy about links!

Loads and loads of people ask us to have links to their site. As linkage implies endorsement, we take it vary seriously indeed. So do not be too surprised that there are not many here!

River Cottage - Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall

Hugh has done a great deal to make 'responsible' meat eating respectable. Sharing the same view as Real Meat, that meat eaters should face up to what has to be done to provide meat and to see that it is done properly.

Their mission statement is:
River Cottage aims to promote a better understanding of the nature and origins of what we eat, and to celebrate and contribute to the vibrancy of our local food community. Every product and experience that we create aims to have a beneficial impact on our understanding, enjoyment and relationship with real food.

We would not argue with that!

Compassion In World Farming

When we started out in 1986, we realised straight away that the formidable RSPCA's attitude to farming issues ranged from lacklustre to non existent.
Compassion In World Farming was brand new and got straight to the issues. We found that their campaigning issues ran very much in parallel with our own.
It would be wrong to say that we saw eye to eye on every issue but if you are wanting to support a farm animal welfare organisation that is not actually anti-meat eating, choose this one.
We have, over the years, supported them in all manner of ways:

Film locations
Research
Information exchange

However . . .
Never failing to deliver an honest opinion, there are one or two things about CIWF that we as both supporters and members have concerns:

Sponsorship - The Real Meat Company has been offered sponsorship over the years and has always refused. We believe that sponsorship is de facto tainted. CIWF, sadly, allows itself to be sponsored by supermarkets.

Gaffs - Although their research is generally pretty damn good, they do make their mistakes. No one's perfect!

Absolutely Fabulous

Support and celebrity mix as we provided keen CIWF supporter, Joanna Lumley, with a location for a TV programme about free range chickens.
